I've got the draft on my mind. No, not the NFL Draft, although, a punter!??!
Nope, the draft I've got in my mind is much more delicious. It seems that many of our Democrat friends really do have a case of buyer's remorse. And, given John F. Kerry's recent goofiness, some people are seriously calling for a new candidate.
I know that delegates are pledged to their initial candiate through at least one vote at the Democratic National Convention. However, the super-delegates, which make up 18% of all delegates are pledged to no one. The conventional wisdom (okay, two things: first pardon the pun, second, the conventional wisdom really says none of this will happen, but stick with me) says that John Edwards would be the eventual candidate. That seems foolish. Edwards would have just a few months to establish himself. If you're going to draft someone at the last minute, you'd need to find someone the public already knows. The Democrats have two such people: Al Gore and Hilary Clinton. God help them.
